Stress:
Reduces anxiety, increases energy and often improves one's outlook
on life. Relieves symptoms of asthma and insomnia as well as provides
excellent
support
therapy for those in psychological counseling.
Tight
or Painful Muscles: Relieves muscle cramps, clenched jaws and tight
shoulders via stretching and kneading techniques. Stimulates the nervous
system which "instructs" muscle to relax further. Flushes
out built-up cellular waste (ex. lactic acid) resulting from vigorous
exercise and stimulates production of natural pain killers called endorphins.
Injuries:
May speed up healing of injuries like tendinitis, ligament sprains and
muscle strains. Reduces inflammation by improving circulation, removing
waste products and bringing nutrition to the injury site.
Negative
Effects of Forced Inactivity:
Relieves the aches and pains resulting from limited physical activity
caused by injury, surgery, poor ergonomics on the job, paralysis and
even normal aging.
Fluid
Retention:
Drains the tissues of excess fluid, via the lymph system, which often
builds up as a result of pregnancy, recent injury or surgery.
