Swedish
Massage:
is the best-known style of massage in the USA.Performed
directly on the skin and using a hypoallergenic oil or lotion, Swedish
is anexcellent choice for "first-timers". Respecting your
need for modesty, your therapist will drape you with a sheet and you
may wear your undergarments if you'd like. Light, medium or deep, YOU
control the amount of pressure used
because Riverbend's therapists
are trained to listen.
LaStone
Therapy:
is relatively new to the east coast and is the "Mercedes Benz"
of "hot" stone therapy. Our certified LaStone therapists have
invested significant
time/money
to bring you the best in a world full of "copycat" techniques.
Treat yourself (or a loved one) to this original form of geo-thermotherapy
which utilizes smooth basalt AND marble stones to warm, cool, "weight"
and massage the receiver into a complete state of serenity. Words fail
to adequately describe the effect
even after you've experienced
it.
Acupressure
(aka Shiatsu): is an ancient style of bodywork built on the Asian
medical model which focuses on balancing one's "Chi", or energy
within the body, as a means to promote good health. Done fully-clothed,
Shiatsu employs gentle finger pressure (not needles) to specific points
found long energy pathways called meridians. Very nurturing and relaxing.
Athletic
(aka Sports) Massage: Used before an event, this modality is designed
to improve one's performance. After an event, it helps eliminate lactic
acid build-up, reduces muscle fatigue and facilitates healing of soft
tissue injuries.
Chair
Massage (aka "seated" or Corporate Massage): A great way
to reduce stress right on the job, chair massage is done fully-clothed
and in the seated position. It typically addresses the head, neck, shoulders,
back, arms, and hands. This is also a much appreciated treat for guests
at family or business social gatherings. Riverbend is proud to be CIGNA
Corporation's provider of massage since 1992.
CranioSacral
Therapy:
received fully-clothed, CST focuses on the fluid that surrounds the
brain and spinal cord. Utilizing gentle "holding" techniques,
it influences the rhythm of this fluid as a means to enhance the body's
innate healing ability. According to Dr. John Upledger, it's originator,
this therapy is often helpful to those having chronic pain, headaches,
CFS, fibromyalgia and postural problems.
Energy
Balancing:
received fully-clothed, this is also a form of "holding therapy"
which is almost identical to Reiki. Incredibly "grounding",
this modality helps one to re-balance the electromagnetic healing energy
system, thereby promoting one's own good health.

Foot
Reflexology: is the art/science of promoting self healing through
the application of pressure to the feet in accordance with ancient "pressure
maps". Preceded by a luxurious aromatherapy foot bath, reflexology
has been known to promote a wide range of health benefits and, at the
very least, is the world's best treat for tired, aching feet!
Pregnancy
Massage: promotes relaxation and improved blood circulation. Pregnancy
massage is a great way to address water weight gain in the legs, low
back pain and the heightened need for a little "TLC" at this
special time in life. In utero, Baby seems to enjoy it too!
Facials: Coming Soon. Call for details.
Hand Paraffin Treatment : Paraffin and essential oil treatment that leaves the hands baby soft. Often gives relief to arthritis sufferers. A nice “add on” to a facial, massage or Foot Reflexology session. Ask about their combination packages.
Aromatherapy foot bath: May be “just what the doctor ordered” for those
tired tootsies we take so for granted every day of our lives. Also a nice “add on to a facial or massage session. This comforting treatment is automatically included in Riverbend’s Foot Reflexology sessions.
